Scout Caving

Lincoln Scouts Caving Club came to life in 1983 when the local Venture Scout Unit took up caving as an outdoor pursuit.

During the last three decades the club has continued to introduce scouts to this amazing sport and support local district camps, activities and events. During the last few years we have refined what we can offer to Scouts in a progressive and informative format.

Adults are needed to run activities for scouts - if you can help, see the document "Adults in the Scout Caving Club" on the Forms page.

What Lincoln Scouts Caving Club can do for Scout and Explorer Groups!

Introductory Evenings

Lasting upwards of 2 hours at your Scout or Explorer group HQ or Altham Terrace. This will comprise of Audio Visual presentations, introductory DVD's, looking at underground maps, clothing and equipment as used for caving, safety and conservation codes.

We will introduce the Scout to the requirements of the Scout Cavers Badge and the Junior Caving Club.

Half Day Training Sessions

Held at Altham Terrace for the over 12's, here we introduce the beginner to the Scout Caving Badges. We shall look at more DVD's as well as ladder climbing techniques, belaying, rope testing, caving hazards, rope management, Cave Conservation and Safety in Caves.

Beginners Caving Trips

These are day trips underground in Derbyshire for the over 12's. Please see our Program Page as we have many beginners trips arranged throughout the year. During these trips the Scout can put to practice everything they have learnt at the training session. Completing four trips would see the Scout complete their Scout Cavers Badge. These trips commence from Altham Terrace at 8:30am.

Artificial Cave

Last year we obtained this new indoor cave system which caters for all ages. It is located inside Coulson's Cabin at Sudbrooke Park Campsite and can be booked through the site warden.
