Lincoln Caving Club started back in 1983 when a group from the local Venture Scout Unit decided that caving deserved its own dedicated club. What began as part of the Scout Association has since grown into a friendly, independent members’ club for anyone who wants to explore the underground world.
We’re no longer connected to the Scout Association, but we still share the same adventurous spirit and love introducing people of all ages to caving.
These days, we’ve got a lively group of over 30 members and a packed caving calendar that suits all abilities. We head out on monthly day trips to Derbyshire and Yorkshire, plus weekend trips to Wales, North Yorkshire and the Mendip Hills. Each year we also run at least one week-long overseas trip — past adventures have taken us to Spain, Sardinia, France, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Mallorca.
New to caving? No problem! We provide top-notch training and all the kit you’ll need to get started. Most of our training happens at Altham Terrace, where we’ve got storage containers for our gear and trees for ladder and SRT practice. We also have access to a big climbing wall nearby, perfect for honing those SRT skills.
If you’re up for some adventure and fancy giving caving a go, come and join us underground!
Our Club is located at Altham Terrace near Boultham Park, Lincoln.
